This follows a previous compensation claim that was successfully made by former miners in England in 1999, when the UK government paid out around one and a half billion in damages to miners that had suffered lung damage and diseases as a result of their former occupations working in the mining industry.
The one and a half billion pound award that was made by the government in 1999 was said to be the largest industrial compensation payout in the history of the UK. About 65,000 former miners that had been affected by lung disease and problems were given compensation out of the award that was made.
