Six Figure Compensation For Widow Of Asbestos Victim
The widow of a man that died from exposure to the deadly carcinogenic, asbestos, has received six figure compensation payout. After an inquest was held in 2004 Mr. Smith, who worked for Gough, Cooper, and Company Ltd in the UK, was said to have died from industrial disease, at which point his widow decided to seek legal advice in order to try and make a claim.Asbestos is a known carcinogenic and was once widely used in the UK, the US, and many other countries around the world. Exposure to airborne fibers and dust from asbestos can cause problems in the long run or at high levels, and one of the health problems that this sort of expsoure can result in is mesothelioma, which is a cancer that is directly linked to exposure to asbestos.
It was in 2003 when Mr. Smith began to feel ill and developed a range of symptoms that prompted him to seek medical assistance. Shortly after this he was diagnosed with mesothelioma, and was told that this was a result of his inductrial exposure to asbestos, which would have occurred when he was inspecting building sites and when construction was taking place.
Smith was suffering from pleural mesothelioma, which affects the lung. Although surgery to remove the tumor was performed, he died from a cardiac arrest after his other lung collapsed. The inquest found that the type of asbestos fibers found in the man’s lungs were consistent with occupations exposure to asbestos.
