Beach Boys Sue Men In California
Two men from California are being sued for the sum of $20 million after being accused of theft by the famous 1960s pop group, the Beach Boys. A lawsuit has been filed in a Los Angeles federal court, alleging that the two men stole recordings, memorabilia, photos, and other items from a warehouse with the intentions of selling them for financial gain. Three defendants have been named on the lawsuit: the two men, Allan Gaba and Roy Sciacca, and a company that the latter was involved with known as Gem Systems Inc.In the lawsuit the defendants have been accused of violation of the groups trademark and copyright. The band has apparently been using the warehouse of one of the defendants to keep a range of memorabilia as well as instruments and other items that they had collected over the years since their peak in the 1960s.
It was 12 years ago that the members from the band finally decided to clear their belongings out of the warehouse. However, according to the lawsuit when they went to collect their belongings, there were about 12 boxes of items missing, which the lawsuit alleges had been removed by the defendants without permission.
Last year, one of the defendants contacted a British auction firm and tried to sell the items, but the auction was cancelled. The defendant claimed that he had actually purchased the items himself a couple of decades ago.
