Hundreds Of Female Applicants To Receive Compensation From Goodyear
Reports have revealed that hundreds of female applicants are to receive compensation payments from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. The announcement was made by the US Labor Department and relates to applicants at the company’s Virginia plant.According to reports the company will have to pay out nine hundred and twenty five thousand dollars in compensation to hundreds of female applicants. The settlement comes after the US Labor Department filed a lawsuit against the company last year on behalf of hundred of women who were denied employment in the late 1990s.
According to the lawsuit that was filed by the US Labor Department in 2006, the company used discrimination in its hiring and firing processes, and discriminated against hundred of female applicants between January 1998 and June 1999.
The lawsuit had stated that the company employed "a hiring process and selection procedures that discriminated against hundreds of female applicants for entry-level positions on the basis of gender."
