Education Lawsuits Filed In 37 States
Education advocates in 37 states have filed lawsuits against the states with relation to the under-funding of public schools. Advocates are aiming to force state governments to pay out more money for the funding of schools in the area. The latest state that looks like it will be facing a lawsuit is Oregon.Twenty-one of the cases heard so far have been won by the plaintiffs, with a further nine still pending. The remainder have been won by the state. It is thought that the next lawsuit in Oregon will be filed within a matter of weeks, adding to the total number of suits filed against various states.
It is thought that a wide spectrum of plaintiffs will be involved in the lawsuit, including school boards and districts, as well as parents. The latest suit will be filed at Marion County Court.
This is just the latest in a line of similar lawsuits, where petitioners and activists are fighting to get more funding for what they claim is a desperately under-funded educational system.
