Parents Consider Suing NHS Trusts After Death Of Boy
The parents of a little boy that died following hospital treatment are looking into suing the two hospital trusts that were involved, after the coroner stated that poor communication between the hospitals could have played a big part in the death of the boy. The baby boy died at Watford General Hospital in London in the UK.The parents of one year-old Ahil Islam are now looking into suing the NHS Trusts for those two hospitals, but state that the matter is not all about getting money but about getting an apology from the NHS. Zia and Nazmin Islam have been told that the NHS will pay them ten thousand pounds (GBP) in compensation, but state that they have already spent this much in legal costs.
The coroner dealing with the death stated: "Ahil sustained a minor burn and died of staphylococcus aurea septicaemia infection which was not diagnosed until shortly before his death." He added that the death could have resulted from an "inadequate transfer of information" between the two hospitals involved in the treatment of the boy.
The boy was being treated for burns, but did not receive a blood test that would have allegedly shown that he had an infection that had stemmed from the burns.
