Family Sues Navy For Malpractice
The family of a young toddler are suing the Navy for one hundred and fifty million dollars, following the birth of the baby boy who was born with severe brain damage. The boy has been left unable to see, walk, or talk as a result of the brain damage, which occurred at his birth in 2005.The family are accusing staff at the Naval Hospital Jacksonville of Malpractice, and say that the baby did not receive enough oxygen during his birth, and that this is what resulted in the severe brain damage. The boy was the second child born in the twin pregnancy.
According to the lawyer representing Joseph and Kendra Alcorn hospital records show that the baby came out with blue limbs upon birth, and that he was not breathing. He was delivered an hour or so after his twin sister was born.
However, hospital staff states that they did all they could to ensure a safe delivery during the birth, as the woman had already been identified as high risk. According to hospital officials extra doctors were on hand and he birth was closely monitored.
