Group Accuses City Of Violation Of Laws
Two lawsuits filed this week by the Citizens for Responsible Growth Group accuse St. Pete Beach of violating the state’s Government in the Sunshine Law, and also of illegally hiding its activities. The group is opposing redevelopment plans put forward by the city.One attorney representing the Citizens for Responsible Growth Group stated: "It's a continuing issue with this city. This is a city being run without any concern for the wishes of the citizens."
However, the city manager has branded the lawsuits as harassment, and states that the claims made in them are baseless. Among other things, the two lawsuits have accused the city of failing to follow proper procedures as well as withholding documents to hide the work being ordered by the city.
The legal processes began last year after the group petitioned for a citywide vote on the city’s plans to increase tourism through mixed use development and tall hotels.
