US Navy being sued for $2 million
The US Navy is being sued for two million dollars by a retired officer that claims he became the victim of botched surgery at the Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. According to the lawsuit sixty-one year-old Robert Peters was left with a blocked urethra following the surgery, which is said to have caused him numerous problems.The lawsuit, which was filed in the US District Court in Norfolk, Virginia, claims that as a result of the blocked urethra Peters had to struggle for months, was left with internal injuries, was unable to work, became wheelchair bound, and even lost the home in which he had lived for nearly two decades.
In a statement Peters said: “I want people out there to know what’s happened to me. I want people to know what they’ve done. I endured pain I never felt in my life. I would have killed myself if I could have got a gun.” He also said that he now has to wear adult diapers because of the related problems that the blocked urethra caused.
The original claim was filed by Peters in January 2006, but since that time lawyers for the Navy have asked for extensions, despite the fact that the plaintiff only needs to allow six months for the investigation before lawsuit should be filed.
