Compensation For Victims Of Police Assault
Compensation has been awarded to a couple in the UK, and their family and friends following an alleged assault by a police officer from Lancashire Police. According to reports the assault took place on the day that a football match was taking place in the area. The couple own a pub in the area, and according to reports the man, the landlord of the pub, was standing outside looking around to see whether there were any supporters that might come into the pub and cause trouble.The couple claim that a police officer then came up to Mr. Fox, the landlord, accused him of being drunk and also of being on drugs. When his wife overheard and asked for the officer’s name and badge number, she was thrown against the police van and was then thrown to the floor and assaulted so badly that she lost consciousness. Both she and Mr. Fox were arrested.
Police are then said to have stormed the pub wearing riot gear, and assaulted various friends of the couple, as well as their daughter and her friends, who were having a drink there. The landlady of the pub sent in a friend to get the CCTV tapes to prove what had happened, but apparently officers beat her to it, took the tapes, and allegedly tampered with them.
Following a police investigation into the matter, the couple and their friends and family have been awarded collective compensation of forty seven thousand GBP (around ninety four thousand dollars.)
