Lawsuit Filed By Teacher Accused Of Being A Witch Is Dismissed
A lawsuit that was filed by a teacher from Long Island, who claims that she was accused of being a witch by school administrators and subsequently lost her job, has had her lawsuit dismissed by a jury. The teacher had filed a lawsuit asking for two million dollars in compensation over the alleged incident.Thirty-seven year-old Lauren Berrios claims that she was fired from her teaching position because administrators made the mistake of thinking that she was a witch. After just an hour of deliberations, however, the seven member jury decided to reject her claim and her lawsuit.
Steven C. Stern, who represented the Hampton Bays school district, stated: ``I think the jury saw this for what it was, a publicity stunt. We're glad the district can put this chapter behind them.''
According to officials from the school district the actual reason that the plaintiff had been dismissed from her job was her failure to cooperate with and get along with other staff members, her attitude problems and tendency to make up stories with regards to her own son being injured.
