Former record label being sued by the Bay City Rollers
World famous band the Bay City Rollers have filed a lawsuit against their former label, claiming that they are still owed millions of pounds in royalties. The 1970s band enjoyed huge success in its heyday, and now the Scottish band is seeking unspecified damages from the former record label, Arista Records.In the 1970s the Bay City Rollers took the world by storm, accruing a massive fan base and enjoying some memorable chart topping hits in countries all around the world. Bye Bye Baby and Shang-a-lang were two of the band’s world famous hits.
The band is now claiming that the former record label, Arista Records, still owes them millions for unpaid royalties from the sale of albums, merchandise, recordings, film and commercial rights, and more. The band filed the lawsuit in the US District Court in Manhattan.
A lawyer for the band stated: "The Rollers have had remarkable success and staying power over the last 30 years. To this day, Arista Records are still successfully exploiting their recordings in the US and around the world. Despite that success and Arista's many assurances over the years that they would pay the band, Arista have simply refused to do what their own contract requires them to do. Through this lawsuit, we intend to secure the royalties owed to the Rollers. They have waited long enough."
