Lawsuit Against Opera Singer Dismissed
A lawsuit that was recently filed against the world renowned opera singer Dame Kiri Te Kanawa has been dismissed. The lawsuit was filed after the opera singer pulled out of a concert because she found some of the behavior offensive and disrespectful.Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was meant to be singing onstage with an Australian singer, rocker John Farnham. The event was supposed to have taken place in 2005. However, the opera singer watched a video of Farnham’s concerts and became offended at the sight of female fans throwing their underwear at him.
The promoter of the concert then filed a lawsuit against the opera singer in the New South Wales Supreme Court, and the lawsuit demanded two million Australian dollars in compensation for breach of contract by the opera singer.
However, the case was dismissed after Dame Kiri Te Kanawa told the courts that she was embarrassed and offended at the sight of females throwing their underwear on stage, and that performing would have made her feel disrespectful.
