Battered Men Sue Bar
Four men have decided to sue a drinking establishment after claiming that they were assaulted and beaten by off-duty police officers who had been served alcohol in the bar enabling them to get more and more intoxicated. According to the four men they were attacked by the off duty police men without any provocation from them when they were at the bar in Chicago.The lawsuit has been filed against the Jefferson Tap & Grille on the North Side of Chicago. According to the lawsuit no protection was provided for the customers of the bar, and the suit also claims that staff from the establishment did nothing to help out or intervene when the incident took place. The suit states that the bar staff refused to get involved.
A video tape of the incident is available but police have so far refused to release this. The incident is said to have taken place in mid December of last year. The four men, Barry Gilfand, Aaron Gilfand, Adam Mastrucci and Scott Lowrance, filed the lawsuit earlier this week in Cook County Circuit Court. The lawsuit seeks over six hundred thousand dollars in damages.
According to the lawsuit the bar served intoxicated off-duty police officers with alcohol, fuelling their intoxication, and that the officers then "assaulted and battered plaintiffs with fists, feet and other objects, without warning and without provocation."
