JT's Former Band Faced Lawsuit
The former band in which global music star Justin Timberlake used to be a member is facing a multimillion dollar lawsuit over one of its songs. NSYNC, along with its record label Jive Records, is being sued for ten million dollars by a singer and songwriter who claims that one of his songs was ripped off by the record label and the band.The plaintiff, Troy Alexander, claims that he played a demo tape for Jive Records back in 1990, and one of the songs on the demo was called 'Up Against the Wall'. He claims that several years later NSYNC was signed by the record label and that the band went on to release a song that was 'substantially similar' to this track and even had the same title.
The singer and songwriter, also known as Royal T, says that the song bore remarkable resemblance to Up Against the Wall, and that the band and record label had even ripped off the title of the song, which appeared on the band's album 'Celebrity', and was released in 2001.
However, according to officials from Jive Records, the band's record label, they have not heard anything about the lawsuit or been served with any legal papers.
