Neurosurgeon Sued Over Negligence
A neurosurgeon is being sued by the widow of a man that died last year, and is being accused of negligence that caused the man's death. Jeanine Deiling claims that the doctor who was treating her husband, was negligent in his approach and this is what ultimately resulted in the death of her husband, Thomas Deiling.The lawsuit against the brain and spine specialist, Dr. John Schneider, was filed in Billings. The lawsuit was filed in February, several months after Mr. Deiling passed away. Deiling was fifty years-old when he died in October of last year.
He was being treated by Schneider for a lower back problem, and had been a patient since August 2003. According to the lawsuit Mr. Deiling was not provided with the full facts regarding his back condition, and accuses the doctor of "breaching his duties imposed by Montana law."
However, according to an attorney for the defendant, Dr. Schneider had "complied with all applicable standards of health care and was not negligent". The doctor also added that Mr. Deiling's death "had nothing to do with his surgery."
