Settlement Reached In NBC Lawsuit
A settlement has been reached in a lawsuit that was filed against NBC by the creators of the hit comedy Will & Grace. The lawsuit was settled recently, and although the plaintiffs had been seeking fifty-five million as part of the suit, the actual figure was not released. A lawyer for the plaintiffs stated that they were very satisfied with the settlement.The Executive producers David Kohan and Jason Mutchnick had claimed as part of the lawsuit that they were owed millions in revenue from the studio following the success of the long running hit television show. The two of them had signed a contract that allowed them to share in the profits made by the show.
Although a verdict had been reached earlier, the judge had not yet discolosed the jury's decision. He was due to do later in the week, but it was discovered that the foreman of the jury ran a website that criticized both corporations in general and NBC. As a result of this the judge was considering fresh deliberations with another juror in place of the foreman.
However, although the studio had denied that it had done anything wrong, and had actually countersued the producers, a settlement was reached before the jury's verdict was read out.
