Sex Offender Pleads Guilty In Death Of Young Girl
Earlier this week, a convicted sex offender pleaded guilty to the murder of an 11-year-old girl in Chicago, after two young boys were initially accused of committing the crime. The murder of the Chicago girl, Ryan Harris, occurred in 1998, when she was beaten, sexually molested and then her body was dumped in Chicago.Two boys aged just 7 and 8-years-old are said to have confessed to killing the girl after she was found. However, following a month of testing including DNA testing and examination of the girl’s clothing it became apparent that the two boys could not have been responsible for the crime.
The sex offender, Floyd Durr, is already serving a sentence of 125 years for the sexual assault of young girls. He has been sentenced to life imprisonment plus 30 years for this crime. The mother of the 11-year-old girl opposed the sentence, as she wants Durr to face the death sentence for his crime.
The families of the two young boys that were initially accused of killing Ryan received settlements some time ago. The City of Chicago settled with the families for over $8 million.
