Mets Fan Files Lawsuit
A woman who was seriously injured at Shea Stadium in New York when attending the opening game of the New York Mets has filed a lawsuit. The woman broke her back at the game after a man weighing approximately three hundred pounds according to reports fell on her. The man was allegedly drunk at the time.The fifty-eight year-old woman, Ellen Massey, stated that when she attended the game in April there was a man that was clearly drunk sitting in close proximity, and she added that the man was “acting in a rowdy, boisterous and dangerous manner for a long period of time.”
According to the court papers the man “in an intoxicated condition fell upon plaintiff causing her to sustain severe personal injuries.” Apparently several vertebrae in Massey's back cracked as a result of the man falling on her. The man in question has not been identified.
The lawsuit goes on to state that the man that fell on Massey did not appear to be injured. According to a lawyer working for Massey: “He got up and left. We have information that one of the security people might have spoken to him and let him leave.”
