Best Buy To Be Sued
Best Buy Co. Inc. is being sued by the attorney general in Connecticut after being accused of deceiving customers and charging them too much. Best Buy operates kiosks and outlets in Canada, and has been accused of failing to provide the same deals that can be found on the company's website.The complaint about Best Buy was served on May 18th, and the company will now have until the 13th of June to respond. The lawsuit will be filed in Hartford Superior Court, and asks for customers to be refunded, for civil penalties to be imposed, and for the practice to be banned among other things.
According to the attorney general: "Best Buy gave consumers the worst deal – a bait-and-switch-plus scheme luring consumers into stores with promised online discounts, only to charge higher in-store prices."
Around twenty complaints were lodged about the company after a newspaper reported on a man that had seen a laptop computer advertised on the website for around seven hundred and thirty pounds, but was then told by a company employee at the kiosk that the actual price was nearly eight hundred and eighty pounds.
