Former School Principal Sues
The former principal of a middle school is suing the school district after being fired from her job. According to the former principal of Schrum Memorial Middle School, Charmyne Taylor, she was fired from her job because she would not create a racially hostile environment for employees that were white, which she claims she was instructed to do.Taylor is suing the Hoover-Schrum Elementary District over her dismissal earlier in the year. A spokesman for the district has stated that the district is in talks with the former principal's attorney in order to try and reach an out of court settlement in a bid to 'minimize on impact for the district'.
According to the lawsuit Taylor was instructed by the school superintendent, Rosemary Hendricks, who is also black, "to impose a racially hostile work environment for certain employees based on their race, Caucasian."
Hendricks has now resigned, and her resignation goes into effect in July, until which time she is on paid administrative leave. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages as well as court costs and legal fees.
