Settlement Reached In CBS-Stern Lawsuit
A settlement has been agreed upon in the lawsuit filed by CBS Radio against controversial shock jock Howard Stern. The radio sued Stern in February, stating that he had improperly used his last 14 months working for the radio station to plug Sirius Satellite Radio, with whom he had signed a five year contract.The radio station sued Stern for breach of contract, but Stern has insisted that he did nothing wrong and that the lawsuit was nothing more than a vendetta. Last week a judge postponed a scheduled hearing to give the two sides more time to settle, after lawyers stated that the radio station and Stern were close to reaching a settlement.
Although a settlement is said to have been reached, both sides state that nothing has been signed as of yet. A lawyer for Stern said: "The only response we're authorized to give you is the settlement agreement is not yet signed. We will release a statement when it is."
A representative for CBS Radio also released a statement, which read: "A settlement agreement has not been signed. When it is signed, we will make an announcement."
