Hit And Run Truck Driver Faces Charges
It has been reported that a truck driver in Alamosa is facing serious charges after causing pedestrian injury then failing to even stop and see whether the pedestrian involved in the accident was okay. Luckily, police were able to get a firm identification of the truck and were therefore able to trace the man that was driving the vehicle.The 25-year-old man was driving the truck when the accident occurred at 3rd and State, Alamosa. According to police reports, the driver – Steven Malouff – was driving his truck towards the intersection of 3rd when the accident occurred. The injured party, Emilo Martinez, was thirteen years old.
Martinez was crossing in the cross walks when Malouff’s truck hit him. The front panel mirror and door hit the boy according to the reports, and Martinez suffered leg injuries resulting from the impact. However, it seems that Malouff simply drove off after the accident, not even waiting to see whether the boy was seriously injured.
Luckily witnesses were able to give the police details of the truck, and Malouff was later apprehended for careless driving and causing injury as well as failure to remain at the scene of the accident.
