Eminem Ring Tones Lawsuit Settled
A lawsuit filed against a number of companies in relation to the unauthorized sale of Eminem tunes as ring tones has been settled. The award winning rapper’s publishing company filed the lawsuit to put a stop to the sale of the songs by five companies, asking for a court order to stop the companies from selling the tunes online.The lawsuit was filed in US District Court last October by Eight Mile Style and Martin Affiliated, based in Michigan. It has been reported that legal representatives for the rapper have now reached a settlement with one of the companies named as a defendant in the lawsuit, Cellus US, based in Colorado.
A lawyer for the company confirmed that Cellus would no longer be selling the rapper’s tunes as ring tones online, but no comment was made as to whether any money was paid out as part of the settlement by Cellus.
A legal representative for the rapper simply stated that an amicable agreement had been reached, and stated that hundreds of thousands of dollars each year is made through sales of illegal Eminem ring tones.
