Riverside Woman Sued State In Wrongful Death Suit
A Riverside woman whose daughter died while in day care in the state of California has filed a lawsuit for $10 million against the state. Anita Aguilar used to take her daughter to a licensed day care center run by a couple. However, her 20-month-old daughter, Aryanna Sanchez, drowned last year while under the care of the center and the couple that run it.The mother of the deceased girl has already filed a lawsuit for wrongful death against the couple that run the day care center. However, she has now added the $10 million lawsuit against the State of California. The lawsuit states that because the day care center in Riverside was licensed by the State of California, the state was responsible for monitoring the center and ensuring that there were no violations and that all regulations were being followed.
The lawsuit also claims that the State was aware that the center was known for violations in regulations, and had received numerous cautions for the same concerns. However, the lawsuit claims that the state failed to take action and revoke the license of the day care center, despite knowing about regular violations.
The young girl died after drowning in an uncovered spa in the garden of the day care center. State officials had already cited this as a dangerous violation, but it appears that nothing was done about it, leading to the death of the little girl.
