UK Couple File For Horse Accident Compensation
A couple from Weymouth in the UK have launched a legal battle for compensation after they suffered serious injuries and had their car damaged when a loose horse crashed into it. The car was being driven by Alan Carlisle, when the horse careened into it. The horse was killed, and the couple in the car, Alan and his wife Susan, were both injured. It was reported that Susan has suffered serious injury, including brain injury.It was also revealed that Mrs Carlisle’s injuries were so bad that she will now need care and supervision throughout her life. The couple are hoping to claim compensation of £150,000 (nearly $300,000). Four people are being sued including the horse’s owner, the owner of two other horses that also broke free at the same time, the person that was leading the horse that crashed into the vehicle, and the owner of the stables.
It appears that the horses were being led into the oncoming traffic when the incident occurred, and that three of the horses, including the one that crashed into the Carlisles’ car, broke free. After being frightened by trucks, they careened across the busy carriageway where the incident occurred.
Mr. and Mrs. Carlisle state that the owners of the horses were well aware of what the animals’ reactions would be when they became frightened by the busy traffic. The owner of the stables has responded, “We will go to court to resist it. It was a nasty accident at a time of day when visibility is not good.”
