Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Over 50 Year Old Alleged Crime
A court has dismissed the lawsuit of a man who claims that he was drugged by the CIA nearly 50 years ago. The judges at the Federal Appeals Court in San Francisco ruled against the former deputy U.S. Marshall who claimed he was given LSD secretly at a Christmas party in 1957 by a CIA agent.Now aged 79, Wayne Ritchie claimed that the secret drugging was part of some experiment into mind altering drugs being carried out by the CIA. However, he did not file the lawsuit until several years ago after reading more about experimentation carried out by the CIA during that era.
The lawsuit was originally dismissed by a San Francisco judge last year, and the dismissal was upheld by the three judge panel at the appeals court. The man claimed he tried to rob a store after the party because of the effects of the LSD that had allegedly been slipped to him.
The appeals court agreed that there was no proof that any drug had been slipped to Ritchie at the party, nor was there any proof that he had tried to rob the store as a result of any drug.
