Husband Sues For Wrongful Death Of Partner
A man whose wife was killed during a police chase is suing the officers involved for wrongful death. The woman, who was on her way back from work, was killed when a car being chased by Wichita police officers slammed into her. Her husband, Gabe Robbins, was following her home that day and saw the whole thing – he claims that police did not follow proper regulations.Mr. Robbins stated, "It's really hard. She was always a part of my life in everything. We did everything together and now she's not there. Not only did I lose Amy, but I had to see it happen and had to sit holding her in the hospital as she took her last breath."
The car that hit Amy Robbins’ vehicle had no headlights on, and was speeding due to the chase. Mr. Robbins added, "You would think it's just common sense not to chase someone through a populated area at night when they don't have lights on. It's hard to think that this was justified -- the right thing to do."
The lawsuit being filed by Mr. Robbins states that "the pursuit of the Dreschler vehicle by the involved defendant officers was negligent, reveals a gross and wanton departure from reasonable and proper procedures in similar situation and was carried out with reckless disregard for the safety of others."
