Pensioner Imprisoned For Illegal Drug Sales
A pensioner has been sentenced to seventy years in prison following the illegal sale of prescription drugs. A Virginia judge sentenced the 74-year-old man to seventy years in prison for the illegal sale of the drugs. However, given the age of the man along with other factors, it has been revealed that sixty years of the sentence have been suspended by the judge.The pensioner, Lloyd Edgar Williams, Sr. was found to be distributing Oxycodone, which is a very powerful painkiller. He was charged with illegal distribution of the drug from his store. It was also revealed that he had already served a prison sentence in the early 1990s for the same offense.
The attorney of the pensioner tried to get the sentence reduced further by stating that the age of the man meant that if he went to prison he would probably die in prison. However, the judge stated that the defendant should have known better at his age, and did not hesitate to serve the sentence.
The drug that was being illegally distributed is a variation of OxyContin, which is an opium-based drug. These drugs have already been associated with a number of deaths, and they carry strong warning labels as directed by the FDA.
