Lawsuit Against City Settled By Former Officer
A lawsuit filed against Bridgeport city by a former police lieutenant was settled earlier this week. The officer claimed that he suffered repercussions after he carried out an investigation into Mayor John Fabrizi and a number of other officials working for the city.The former officer, John Brenner, retired from the police a couple of months ago. As part of the out of court settlement that was reached, Brenner is set to receive a $10,000 lump sum payment, as well as his pension. The city will also be footing the legal bill up to the cost of ten thousand dollars.
A lawyer working for the city stated: "The city denies any and all of Mr. Brenner's allegations; however, for financial reasons we have agreed to settle the case. It was much more cost-efficient to settle the case than to proceed with a trial."
The lawsuit stated that while in his job at the police department Brenner "aggressively pursued allegations against officers senior to himself, as well as top-level city officials, up to and including John Fabrizi."
