Online Gambling Lawsuits On The Rise
The massive rise in online gambling over recent years seems to have spawned a big rise in lawsuits as well. Although the online gaming industry is set to up their profits by about forty percent on last year, many could find a pile of lawsuits on their doorsteps from disgruntled players that have lost everything to these online gaming establishments.One class action lawsuit that has been filed aims to sue a variety of search engines for advertising gaming sites and encouraging surfers to click on the sites and start playing. Yahoo and Google are among the search engines being sued, and lawyers are aiming to recoup clients’ gambling losses through this action.
And it is not only clients suing casinos any longer. Now online casinos are suing bricks and mortar casinos and vice versa, over a host of copyright infringement issues and patent or trademark issues. Other states are going to the other extreme, where they are looking to legalize online gaming.
One lawyer stated: “I think it's a big problem for the people who are addicted to gambling. If we could, we would go after the gambling sites themselves."
