Grace Isherwood, aged 77, was one of a number of National Cancer Institute volunteers taking part in a national trial into the early detection of cancer. She attended for x-rays as part of this trial. However, she claims that after having a chest x-ray, medics failed to inform her of a cancerous mass that was present.
Ms. Isherwood claims that as a result the diagnosis and treatment of the lung cancer was delayed, and the cancer has now spread as a result of not being treated early enough. The trial x-rays were carried out at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
The medical center has responded by stating that there is evidence to show that the fault does not lie with the doctor of the plaintiff or with the university medical center.
