Dog Owners Sued By Parents
The owners of two German Shepherd dogs are being sued for negligence by the parents of a five-year-old boy who was mauled by the two animals. More than half a million dollars in damages is being sought by the plaintiffs as part of the lawsuit. The attack took place at the end of January, and the five-year-old, Cayden Stevens, was left with serious facial and neck injuries.The two dogs that carried out the attack were destroyed after the incident, and the owners were named as defendants in the lawsuit, alleging that they were negligent in the control of the animals. However, none of the allegations have yet been proven in court.
It is alleged as part of the lawsuit that Stevens was outside the home of Gene and Nancy Orlick, the owners of the dogs, who were named Rio and Mason. The suit goes on to state that Stevens was "attacked by Rio or Mason or both dogs, knocking him to the ground, inflicting severe bite marks to his head, face and neck, thereby causing him severe permanent injuries, damage and loss."
The suit also states that the dogs should have been restrained, trained, and muzzled, and that failure to do so by the owners constituted negligence on their part.
