Woman Sues Yahoo Over Unauthorized Nude Pics
A woman, whose former boyfriend posted nude photos of her on the Internet without authorization, is suing Yahoo for failing to remove the pictures from the web. The woman states that Yahoo failed to act upon a promise to get the pictures removed, and has sued the company for $3 million.Forty-eight year-old Cecelia Barnes filed the suit in Multnomah County. She has stated that not only did the former boyfriend post nude pictures of her, but that he also added her work telephone number and her email address.
In addition to this, according to the lawsuit, the boyfriend also apparently went onto chat room sites pretending to be Cecelia, and got men to take a look at the photos and profiles. This caused additional problems because of her contact details being available on the profiles.
The lawsuit states: "Due to these profiles and online chats, unknown men would arrive without warning at plaintiff's work expecting to engage in sexual relations with her." Barnes had been trying to get Yahoo to remove the unauthorized pictures and profiles for three months, but nothing was done.
