Woman Sued Hospital And Doctors
The widow of a man that died in a hospital after trying to stop a purse snatching is suing the hospital and two doctors. The man was critically injured when he stepped in to try and stop the crime, and he later died in the hospital where he was taken to be treated.His widow, Stephanie Sandgren, filed her lawsuit against the hospital and the two doctors at Johnson County District Court. The medical malpractice lawsuit claims that the hospital was negligent in the treatment of her husband, and an unspecified sum of compensation is being requested.
Sandgren's attorney, Jim Bartimus, stated: "It's just a tragedy on top of a tragedy. This guy was a true hero who tried to be a really Good Samaritan....Then he got into a well-known, well-respected hospital and unfortunately mistakes were made that directly led to his death."
The man had stepped in to try and stop the purse snatching in May 2005, but ended up being crushed between a car door and a building. He passed away eighteen days after the incident as a result of his injuries.
