Dr. Dre Sues For Breach Of Contract
Rap star Dr. Dre, and the boss of the Interscope Geffen label Jimmy Iovine, are suing a headphones firm in Delaware for breach of contract after the firm allegedly failed to keep to a manufacturing deal that had been set up and agreed upon.The deal was to "manufacture, market and distribute" a line of headphones that would be known as Beats by Dr. Dre, which were industry quality headphones. However, after the firm allegedly failed to deliver on the deal, Dre and the music company mogul are suing.
The plaintiffs, who filed the lawsuit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, accuse the defendants SLS International, Pentgram Design, Inc. and Jibe Audio of failing to perform under the contract. The lawsuit further accuses the defendants of planning to sell the headphones through another company.
Up to one million dollars in damages is being sought as part of the suit, and in addition to this Dre and Iovine are seeking an injuntion to stop the manufacture and distribution of the products under the Beats design and trademark.
