Inmate’s Widow To Sue For His Death
The widow of a prison inmate is planning to file a multi-million dollar lawsuit against the authorities after her partner was killed in prison through repeated Taser shocks administered by officers at the jail. It is alleged that Frederick Williams, aged 31, was shocked five times in the space of a minute, which led to his death.Following the incident, which occurred in May 2004, Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter refused to open an investigation into the death, and the attorney of the man’s widow states that this is why she has decided to go ahead with a lawsuit. However, the District Attorney stated that as far as he is concerned the case is closed.
The man’s widow plans to file the lawsuit by in the next month. Her attorney stated: “We will be seeking a multi-million dollar verdict against all the responsible defendants for the needless and senseless death of a good man who leaves behind a young wife and four young children.”
There is a video of the incident, where officers were apparently trying to get Williams into handcuffs, and a group of officers administered one shock after another. The video has been shown on television with a warning because of its graphic nature.
