Widow Sues Actor, Producers, And Pilot
The widow of a photographer who was killed while filming ‘The Final Season’ is suing the producers of the show, the actor, Sean Astin, and the pilot, as well as naming a number of other defendants as part of the lawsuit. The photographer was killed in a helicopter crash while filming at the end of June.The widow, Kathryn Schlotzhauer, claims that the crash could have been avoided if more care had been taken by producers and other crew members to take note of potential dangers in the area, such as the power lines that resulted in the crash of the helicopter.
Her husband, 50-year-old Roland, was filming in the final days of the shoot, and was killed after the helicopter came down in a cornfield close to Walford. The pilot and the show’s producer were seriously injured in the crash. Unfortunately the photographer suffered fatal injuries.
An attorney for his widow stated that she is seeking $50,000 in punitive damages, as well as an unspecified sum in compensation. A publicist for the actor Sean Astin stated that he was only being used because he is the lead actor, and actually had nothing to do with the incident.
