Mother Campaigns For Tighter Controls On Pit Bulls
The mother of an eight-year-old girl that was recently savaged by a pit bull in Santa Rosa is campaigning for stricter controls over this particular breed. Annette Roja, the eight-year-old, has just been released from the hospital after the neighbor’s dog tore her face. Her mother, Norma Rojas, was also injured as she tried to stop the attack.Norma Rosa stated: "This breed of dog is not to be trusted. I am truly worried about all the children that people have in their own backyards and believe to be safe." Her doctor added: "She's a very lucky girl because an inch in any direction, some of her wounds could have been potentially life threatening. Her wounds on her face are healing very rapidly. Her face is going to probably heal with minimal obvious scarring."
The doctor is also urging officials to improve laws regarding such dogs in order to prevent attacks, stating: "I see dog bites and animal bites on a routine basis. I've seen children who've almost had their face torn off by the family dog. You are not allowed to bring a lion into your backyard, and I think there has to be more concern and legislation for certain kinds of breeds."
