City To Pay Hell’s Angels Nearly $800,000
The city of San Jose is to pay motorcycle group the Hell’s Angels nearly $800,000 in compensation in relation to a number of police raids that were carried out in the homes of some of the biker group’s members.A lawsuit had been filed against the city when it was claimed that city police raided the homes of some of the members of the Hell’s Angels, and as part of the raids they shot and killed three dogs. The incident is said to have occurred in early 1998, and two homes belonging to Hell’s Angels members were being raided.
The Hell’s Angels recently received another settlement from Santa Clara County for the sum of over $900,000, after a number of members’ homes were raided along with the headquarters in San Jose.
The raids have netted the motorcycle group nearly two million dollars, with a couple of other counties whose officers were involved in the raids also adding to the total compensation figure paid out. The raids came after a member of the group was accused of murder in 1997, but was later acquitted.
