Construction Companies May Be Sued By Electric Company
The main electric company in Tokyo may be suing various construction companies after power lines were knocked out earlier in the week due to equipment used by the constructions companies. This caused a blackout that affected over a million electricity customers, both residential and business premises.According to a spokesperson from the Tokyo Electric Power Co. the blackout was caused as the result of a construction crane hitting a power line. The crane was being transported downriver by contractors Obayashi Corp. Two other firms may also have been involved according to the Tokyo Electric Power Co, and these are Aoki Gumi and Mikuniya Kensetsu.
It was around two hours later that power was restored to the area, and it is possible that all three construction companies may be named in the lawsuit filed by the electric company. However, no indication has been given with regards to how much the company is looking to claim.
The power cut occurred early in the morning, and affected elevators, computers, and other electrical equipment, leaving many people stranded or trapped as well as leaving them without the use of utilities.
