Crack Down On Internet Piracy By The Feds
It has been announced that there has been a crack down on Internet piracy organizations that are responsible for movies, games, and software worth over $50 million. FBI agents and investigators have already started working on the crack down and made arrests, and the operation covers 11 nations.The attorney general stated that the Justice Department "is striking at the top of the copyright piracy supply chain - a distribution chain that provides the vast majority of illegal digital content now available online."
This is an involved operation, which is being aided by authorities in other countries including Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Israel, the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom.
Four people have been arrested so far, and they have been charged with the violation of federal copyright protection laws. All of the people arrested so far are thought to be members of an underground Internet co-op.
