Sexual Discrimination Complaint Filed By Fire Fighter
A fire fighter from Kansas City has filed a complaint against the fire department, stating that there are not adequate female facilities in many of the fire stations. The fire fighter, Kathleen Kline, has already filed a complaint against the fire department before for sexual discrimination in 2001, and was awarded fifty thousand dollars.Kline also claims to have been denied a station trade request because of her previous legal actions. She is now seeking damages, and wants female facilities to be improved in fire stations throughout the Kansas City area, where she claims that they are inadequate.
Fire Chief Smokey Dyer claims that the department is in the midst of a program to improve its stations, and denied Kline’s allegation that the trade request was denied because of previous legal action that she had taken.
In her previous lawsuit Kline had claimed discrimination on the basis that women were not given protective clothing specifically designed for women.
