Six Families File Lawsuits Against Hospital
Lawsuits have been filed against a hospital by six families after the remains of babies and fetus remains were found last year at a funeral director’s garage. The six families have filed their lawsuits against the Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh.The funeral director, in whose garage the remains were found, was charged with abuse of corpses and theft by deception, and is currently awaiting trial. The funeral director, Robert B. Winston, is said to have had an arrangement with the hospital to cremate the remains but instead he kept the money and stored them.
The bodies of 19 babies as well as 300 fetuses were found in the garage. All were supposed to have been cremated by the funeral director. The hospital did not make any comment with regards to the lawsuits and charges.
Of the six lawsuits filed, one was filed back in June, a second in July, and a further four were filed earlier this week in Allegheny County.
