American Idol Winner Settled Lawsuit With Producer
The winner of the smash hit television competition, American Idol, has settled a lawsuit that he filed against a producer. Taylor Hicks was announced the winner of the talent competition earlier this year, and had filed the lawsuit against the producer, who is from Nashville, for the sale of some of his early work through the Internet.Hicks, who comes from Birmingham, Alabama, sued because three of his earlier songs were being sold by the production company, Baldwin Entertainment, through the Apple iTunes website. He was granted a temporary injunction against the sales of these songs, and was awaiting a permanent injunction.
However, he reached a settlement with the producer and owner of the company, William J. Smith, earlier. An attorney for the star stated that the settlement means that Smith will not be able to use, distribute, or sell these early works via the Internet.
No money is thought to have been exchanged as part of the settlement according to reports, and any other claims filed against the producer by Hicks are to be dismissed.
