
The ruling judge was Mary Cooper, and in relation to Broadcom’s claims she stated that the company’s arguments did "not support an inference that competition in the UMTS chipset market is, or will be injured by Qualcomm's licensing practices."
She also added that dismissal of the lawsuit "does not support claims for monopolization or attempted monopolization." Broadcom filed the lawsuit in 2005 and accused Qualcom of unfair practices and breach of antitrust laws.
In response to the lawsuit filed by Broadcom, Qualcom filed a suit accusing Qualcom of patent infringement. In response to the dismissal a Broadcom spokesperson stated: "Qualcomm should take little comfort in the court's decision."
