Apple Lawsuit Over iTunes
Another lawsuit has been settled by Apple in relation to an iTunes lawsuit, after allegations that the design for the application was stolen by the company from another party. Apple was accused of stealing the patented software by David Contois, owner of Contois Music & Technology of Essex Junction in Burlington.Apple settled a lawsuit with Creative Technology recently, where the settlement includes a $100 million fee enabling Apple to use the patent awarded to Creative in Apple products.
Contois claimed that he got the patent for the design in 1999, which was two years before iTunes was introduced. He tried to ban Apple from distributing iTunes and also asked for monetary compensation for the theft of his design.
In response to the allegations made by Contois, Apple had made a statement, claiming: “Apple does not infringe, has not infringed, has not contributed to the infringement of and has not induced the infringement.”
