Family Sues Airline
A family is suing an airline after a family member was killed when the aircraft took off on the wrong runway and crashed. The airline being sued is Comair, and the flight over which the airline is being sued is Comair 5191, described as the worst plane disaster in half a decade.Forty nine people were aboard the flight when it came down and burst into flames, and the family of Rebecca Adams state that she suffered ‘conscious pain and suffering’ before she died. The lawsuit alleges that the airline was negligent. The co-pilot on the flight was the only survivor and remains in serious condition.
The incident occurred when the pilots aboard the jet turned onto the wrong runway, which was too short for the size of the plane. The aircraft tried to take off but crashed near the Blue Grass Airport in Lexington.
A Comair spokesperson stated: "Comair extends its heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by the accident and our focus remains addressing the needs of family and loved ones in cooperating with the investigative process."
