Problem With Harry Potter Piracy Online
Problems have arisen concerning the new Harry Potter book by author JK Rowling, with many illegal electronic copies of the book being swapped online. Although the book is not officially available in electronic format, it has been converted illegally from print copies, and this is how it is now being illegally passed around on the Internet.One spokesperson stated: "They're going out on the Net by the thousands. It's an illustration of the future." The incidents of illegal sharing of the best selling children’s book has simply raised concerns further with regards to the piracy of electronic literature online, highlighting just what a problem it is becoming.
Although in the past book piracy is thought to have been lower in the United States than in most other countries, it is thought to be on the rise, as this latest Harry Potter piracy incident seems to indicate. With regards to book piracy reaching problem levels such as those relating to music and movie piracy, the spokesperson added: "You can be sure it will reach that level if publishers don't wake up."
