Video Game Manufacturer Sued Over Sex Scenes
The manufacturer of a video game has been sued for selling its game with the inclusion of hidden sex scenes that were graphic in nature. A complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York by Florence Cohen. The suit was filed against Take-Two Interactive Software Inc and a subsidiary company, Rock Star Games Inc.The lawsuit alleges that the company stated that the video game in question, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas video game, contained no sexual content. The suit claims that the company deceived the regulatory board responsible for rating the game by claiming there was no sexual content.
In the lawsuit the plaintiff also claims that children can use easily accessible software to access the sexual content. Many retailers have pulled the game from the shelves as a result of the discovery, and the regulatory board has re-classified the game as suitable for adults only.
The plaintiff bought the game in late 2004 for her grandson, and has stated that there is no way she would have made the purchase had she been aware of the content and the fact that it was suited to adults only.
